January 15, 2008Berlin's THE OCEAN has issued the following update:
"It seems like this issue always comes back to us... Due to THE OCEAN's collective's current bass players' inability to cope with our heavy touring schedules, we need a new bass player for all our upcoming touring activities. What we're looking for is a nice, sociable guy with the following:
* skills
* dedication
* experience
* smooth and precise playing, good tone, finger and pick
* time for extensive tours
* ability to read sheet music not necessary, but advantageous
* high level of tolerance for the typical on-the-road stress
* located in Europe
"If you're a bass player (and not just a bass-playing guitarist),please write an email to [email protected] and tell us about yourself. Be prepared to be on the road nonstop between mid-March and mid-July in the U.S., Europe and Russia. This is your chance to join us! We're looking forward to hearing from you!"
THE OCEAN's extensive concept album, "Precambrian", was released last Novemebr via Metal Blade Records. The double-disc effort is the soundtrack to the beginning of evolution, subdivided into two successive geological eons ("Hadean/Archean" and "Proterozoic"). The songs are divided into five subordinate eras, with the songtitles carrying the names of subordinate geological periods. Disc 1 features the typical THE OCEAN brutality while Disc 2 shows the deeper, more emotional side of what the collective also stands for.
"Precambrian" is available as a deluxe digipack and was recorded in the band's own Oceanland studio as well as in Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, Los Angeles and Seattle. Once again the incredible artwork was done by highly acclaimed artist Martin Kvamme (FANTOMAS, TOMAHAWK, PATTON/KAADA).
"Precambrian" has a running time of 84 minutes and features guest appearances by Scofield (CAVE IN, ZOZOBA, OLD MAN GLOOM),Nate Newton (CONVERGE, DOOMRIDERS),Dwid Hellion (INTEGRITY),Tomas Hallbom (BREACH),Eric Kalsbeek (TEXTURES) as well as the musicians of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
